New research project NEFERTITI: Innovation in Demo Farms
The H2020 NEFERTITI project (Networking European Farms to Enhance Cross Fertilisation and Innovation Uptake through Demonstration) is a unique €7 million Network comprising 32 partners and coordinated by ACTA, the head of Network of the French Agricultural Technical Institutes.
NEFERTITI establishes 10 interactive thematic networks and brings together 45 regional clusters (hubs) of demo-farmers and actors involved (advisors, NGOs, industry, education, researchers and policy makers) in 17 countries. NEFERTITI focuses on creating added value from the exchange of knowledge, actors, farmers and technical content between networks in order to boost innovation uptake and to improve peer to peer learning and network connectivity between farming actors across Europe. In the end, it all contributes to a more competitive and sustainable agriculture.
NEFERTITI addresses 10 themes that have been chosen based on key concerns of the farming communities. IFOAM EU is deputy leader of these two organic themes:
- Robust organic livestock systems
- Increasing productivity & quality in organic arable crops
Demonstrations are planned 2019-2021 in Germany, France, UK, Poland, Finland, Spain; more information the demo activities will follow. IFOAM EU will contibute to dissiminate the results in the organic community and to raise awareness at policy level.
NEFERTITI has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme for Research & Innovation under grant agreement n°772705.
