IFOAM EU’s staff, making Europe more organic!

The IFOAM EU office team explored the Walloon organic landscape on a two-days staff excursion in the Region of Namur. We started our trip at the cooperative Agribio producing flour, bread, pasta, cookies and much more. We met the farmer cultivating the crops and the different cereals and heard about his challenges. We also learnt how Agribio processes the cereals they receive from the farmers in the cooperative, and saw firsthand how the artisan miller and baker process the grains into tasty produce. After a communal lunch with the sheep in Agribio’s barn, we travelled to Froidefontiane, a quaint farm in the Walloon hillside. The office received a tour of the domain and got informed about the ongoing and future projects at the farm incubator for organic projects. Some of the projects deal with poultry, vegetable gardens, pigment creation... Next day we visited Cycle en terre to better understand organic seeds multiplication and the challenge they face to produce these seeds in Belgium.

Throughout the two days of our trip, we met very interesting and inspiring people who contribute to make Europe more organic. We would like to thank them again for welcoming us.
