What does the new EU organic regulation bring?
During the international exhibition of organic and natural products SANA 2015 , a meeting of the Agriculture Committee of the European Parliament is scheduled in order to go on with the examination of the proposed regulation on organic production and labelling of organic products which will repeal the current Regulations EC No. 834/2007 and EC No. 889/2008.

Organic management from the production to the consumer
In order to provide a uniform symbol for organic food across Europe, the European Commission created a new organic logo and made its use mandatory. Since 1 July 2010 it must be used on all products labelled as organic.
In response to the global fish crisis, the market for farmed fish and sea food is expanding rapidly. Organic aquaculture is no different. To foster the development of organic aquaculture production, EU rules for organic aquaculture and seaweed were introduced with Regulation (EC) No 710/2009 and are in force as of 1 July 2010.
IFOAM EU Group experts were invited members of the Commission working group that provided technical input for the draft legislation.
In 2012, new EU rules were adopted allowing for organic wines to be produced and labelled with the new EU organic logo. Previously, wine could only be labelled as "made of organic grapes."
Implementing rules define the production, labelling and import requirements for the organic farming sector in Europe. Every year different new implementing rules amending the main two - Reg.(EC) No 889/2008 and Reg. (EC) No 1235/2008 - are published and come into force. Implementing regulations are proposed by the Commission and approved by the Committee on Organic Production (COP), which is composed of the representatives of all National Competent Authorities.
